only able to get in a plyo workout and a track workout (times below). also got in three days of telemarking. good for the quads.

33, 34, 33, 33
53, 54, 54<br the rest/work ration was 3:1 for the sprints.

31, 33, 33, 32
51, 53
32, 33, 32, 32
13, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14

Nate 2/24<br set, and then ran 5-200m shuttle runs.

three days ago did 20 of the shorter shuttle runs and then ran 5 compasses.

four days ago did my plyo lifts (3x) (15 squat, rdl each leg, 120 wall touches, 30 situps)

6(?) days ago did the plyo lifts again

Forrest 2/24
lifted (day 3 week 6) on monday + squash
track workout on tuesday --> felt sluggish, partly because it was the first track workout id done since vegas. times were still decent, but should be faster this week
squash wednesday and thursday (games v. walker, mikey, and seigs twice)
lifted (day 1 of week 6 again) today --> starting up the altrenate workout with lamar et al. next week so i had a freeby. i hate chinups

that's it. not playing in four corners, but ill do something to make up for it (probably squash and some tossing) instead<br It was a nice change of pace from the original workout, and it was nice to be working with someone so they can commment on form, weights, whatever. I then beat him in one on one, a very ugly game which featured 5 airballs by me but also 6 blocks, one sky hook and a game winning three that I called. Admittedly it was the third three I had called in a row and the first to go in, but let's focus on the good.

After some really weird back problems on Sunday, the good ol' spine held up just fine today. During one of the 200's I was chased by a stray dog, but a nice Marshallese dude called him away as he was about to attack. Phew
Sunday - 18 5/10's and plyos, felt great. I beat chuckie on several of the sprints too
Monday - Day 2, week 4, kicking butt with the weights
Tuesday - 10 x 100
Wednesday - off
Today (thursday) - 8 sets of 3 minutes soft, 1 minute hard running. Still a bitch.

Forrest 2/15:
after spraining or doing something weird to my back on friday in vegas, i'm starting to feel better. the plan right now is the rest thru saturday (convenient given i have 2 papers and a midterm between now and then), then to toss and hang out a bit at the turf tourney before either runnig the week's optional track workout or throwing a little lift in

Lamar 2/15:
Just got back from a lift, did day 1, week 1 to start over again... i think i remember that being the thing to do once week 6 was done, but i might be wrong. either way, i don't think i'll be doing too much week 1 stuff, as i have decided to try out the alternate weight workout for a couple of weeks, until sometime in march when i'll figure out number of weeks left, etc. and jump back into the regular workout so that it will peak at the right time.

Nate 2/15:
i was out of it for the past weekend travelling and then accidentally travelling to panama (yeah, i'm an idiot) but have kept up with my little plyo thing: 3x(15- 1 leg squat each leg, 15- 1 leg rdl each leg, 120 wall touches, 15- 1-leg box jumps each leg). also done some running, though its kinda discouraged since you're not supposed to go outside without boots so i've been running in them, which isn't great.

Watson 2/16:
I've been out of it for a bit the past week. Saturday and Sunday I practiced flexing my muscles on the beach in nice on the mediterranean. Monday and Wednesday i did some pretty tough plyo workouts and then today did the track workout. for some reason, i felt exhausted, slow, and weak while doing it even though my times aren't bad. Also, i don't know why, but i figured that the middle 6 100s were strides instead of sprints. oops.

31, 52, 73, 54, 33
strides instead of sprints
31, 53, 74, 54, 33
15, 15, 15, 14

this week i'm going on vacation, so i don't know if i'll be able to get in very many workouts. at the very least, for three days i'll be working my quads telemarking by mont blanc.

stuff

2/7 track workout
200: 33,33,34
3oo: 59,60,60
400: 80,81,80
300: 59,60,59
200: 33,33,30

since i was just sitting on my ass in hanover i decided to do the track workout again on monday 2/13
200: 34,35,34
300: 59,58,59
400: 78,80,81
300: 59,60,60
200: 35,35,30

lifted 3 times in between and played some squash and bball, hope vegas was sweet and that you guys played well

Vegas in 11 hours

yup. 11 hours. even less by the time you read this. maybe i'll be there. maybe i'll be back. maybe i'll have gone, come back, and gone there once more. who knows.

this week's track workout times:

32, 54, 79, 54, 34
34, 55, 78, 55, 32
34, 56, 80, 57, 31

also finished week 6, and thus the first workout sheet, earlier this week. starting it all over come next week. Wanktastic registrar. I've fallen behind slightly but I should be able to catch up. Sunday I ocean kayaked for 5 hours, it was maybe the hardest physical thing I've had to do since freshman year of high school soccer tryouts. You can't ask a coach to sub you out when you're fighting huge currents in the middle of a lagoon. Monday I took off, yesterday I conditioned, and today I did 18 5-10's and plyos. I am having trouble with the conditioning, I haven't been able to get past the 8 reps of 1 minute hard, 3 minutes soft yet. Don't really know what to do better, I could blame it on the 80 degree heat maybe.

watson 2/9
been going to practice as usual, saturday and sunday i did a plyo workout, and more plyos tuesday and wednesday. track workout today, times below.

32, 53, 74, 55, 33
34, 54, 76, 56, 34
34, 56, 77, 56, 34

happy with my improvement on the 400s, but now am going to start focusing on bringing down the 300 and 200 times. good luck in vegas guys.

this week

got in some lifts, did the weds night pickup (2 assists, 3 scores, 1 D, 1 drop), plyos, sprints, and just got back from an epic 4.5 hr brooklyn practice.

watson 2/2

friday - ultimate practice and some focused throwing.
saturday and sunday - tournament near marseille.
monday - off
tuesday - plyos, 15 5-10 suicides
wednesday - more plyos
thursday (today) - track workout. blew my load on the first 400, but i brought it down to a level that was more appropriate. I'm moving up in the world, I usually use 30 and 35 pound weights now, last year I was all into 20's and 25's
Wednesday - Sprints - 8 x 100, all in the 13 second range
- Plyos for about half an hour. I think I do fewer plyos than you do, but with the sprints my legs felt dead, I wasn't even able to cooldown run all the way back
Tomorrow (Friday) I'll do sprints to round out the week, probably 5/10's, maybe some 70's though.

Pimp. You're playing colorado, huh? Let me tell you that last year when we went to San Diego I thought we were gonna be totally outmatched, playing west coast teams when we couldn't even beat harvard, and we came out in the first game and beat defending national runner-up Cal-Berkeley. Trust that you can play with anyone as long as you play our game. And have fun too, there's no pressure, so live it up.

i forget when i last updated, but i lifted day 2 last thursday followed by agilities on friday, practice on saturday was great and for b team practice on sunday we did some drills (go to and huck) and competitive 4v4 boot in the two hours we were out there, my legs were feeling dead and i i wasn't feeling too good when i did the track workout on monday, it went fairly well and my legs started to get better as it went on
200s: 33,33
400s: 85,86,85
200s: 31,31,32,31,32,32
400s: 81,82
200s: 30,31
i really went all out at the end, mixture of relief and feeling like crap afterwards, i did the last set of 400s a few seconds faster than expected, pretty sure i timed them correctly
lifted day 1 week 8 today, realized i skipped day 3 by accident, i'll just make sure i do it this week at some point, submitted my history fsp proposal this evening, what a relief

Various bad things

So at some point last week, I believe it was Wednesday, I got in day 1 of week 6. It was a good time. Friday's agilities were tough but felt good, and practice on Saturday was beautiful. Today I did the track workout with FoHo and Timmer, really was not happy with myself.

2 x 200s 34, 33
3 x 400s 77, 74, 75
6 x 200s 33, 34, 33, 33, 34
2 x 400s 77
2 x 200s 37, 35

the last of the 6 200s and the first of the 2 400s i spent over the toilet in Leverone, desperately trying to get myself psyched up to pull the trigger. I have never felt that messed up from working out before. Also, the last two times don't look awful, but I was a good 3 - 5 seconds behind Timmer and Fo on each one. I don't know what it was today - I know it's a hard workout and we really tried to not hold anything back from the beginning, but I was just not doing good.

I'll be lifting tomorrow, maybe do the Air Assault 3 with Mideast (gasp!) first? Who knows.

good lord

i just completed the week from hell- got 6 hrs of sleep TOTAL from tues-thurs, was working nonstop. kind of tapered off towards the end, but still left me no time to a) lift and b) play ultimate (which is a big part of my training). did plyos on monday and sprints this morning.

now i can see why college is absolutely the best years of our lives

sammy 1/27

hey kids, just wanted to check in and let you know that I've completed another week of workouts. It's getting pretty exhausting to do it without ultimate on the side, but charlie and I make it fun, and the fact that I do it when it's 75 degrees out on a pier on the Pacific Ocean helps too. Here's the schedule, as best as I can remember.

Saturday - plyos
Monday - conditioning, 9 sets of 1 minute hard, 3 soft
Tuesday - Day 1
Wednesday - 17 reps of 5/10's, plyos
Thursday - Day 2. type='text'>Hola Peeps

Hey all. Sorry I haven't been posting stuff, my fault. Anyway, my calfs are still a little sore from the calf-raises we did at the stadium the other day, but overall I feel great. I felt really good during the tourney this weekend, which sort of surprised me, becuase I really really don't like playing in the cold that much. But then again, it was warmer than usual. The workouts and the lifting has been going pretty nicely. I have gone and done some lifts by myself, becuase sometimes I can only get to very odd hours because of other commitments, like very early in the morning or late at night, but i'm still getting them done. I'm done with week 5, so hopefully now that i have a hold on my schedule, i can start going with the full house peeps again. I'm also playin IM basketball and we are 1-0, with a win against Dan Yi's team. Yea, we beat that ass. Anyway, everything's good, get crunk, have a nice sunday. Peace out
-Rem

brooklyn

went to the brooklyn ultimate practice yesterday. it was fun- lots of kill drills, give-and-goes, and 70yd sprints mixed with two scrimmages. my dump cuts need work, although it was pretty hard to get traction in the soft mud. Had some in and out cuts from the vert stack though. brooklyn certainly has some good players, although it's not too difficult to see why they placed 6th or so at regionals. but i'm definitely planning on continuing to go if i can, as well as to the wedsneday night game.

apart from that, i've been busy celebrating my 21st bday with my first-ever legal beers. also had some grey goose.

on the downside, i had a great time working 23 hours on thursday.

nate 1/20

i've been doing something most days, missed yesterday but the day before did plyos and then went on a 9-mile run, day before that ran a series of 400's and 800's (this also happened to be running up and down the beach looking at sea turtles laying eggs), day before i don't remember. i've been doing plyos every other day or so and running on most off days.

Watson 1/19

yo. This past weekend I went and played in a indoor tournament in switzerland, so that was pretty fun. I'll count that as one workout.

Tuesday and Wednesday I did some short plyo workouts.

Today I did the track workout, which has a funny story to it. Since I didn't want to run in the mud again, i found a new track, but shorter, which looked about the size of the one in leverone. It's pretty nice, and even has some little things to keep you dry when it rains and you're not running. anyways, the times

200 - 40, 39
300 - 72, 72, 73
400 - 114, 113, 113, 114
at this point i realize that something is seriously wrong. my muscles must be deteriorating or something. I just can't run any faster. at the start of the 400s, i decide to take it a bit easy and just work on getting a consistent time. then, i get the bright idea that maybe it's not me. I ask, in broken french, how long the track is, and i hear the reply "deux cent cinquante." if you translate this correctly, it means "you are all my bitches." i was running 250s, 375s, and 500s. i fixed the distances for the rest of the sets i had to do.
300 - 61, 57, 56
200 - 34, 34

hope you enjoyed my story. fucking french.

sammy 1/18

alrighty, here's what I've been up to this week, same as usual.

Saturday - Day 2
Monday - 8 sets of 3 minutes easy, 1 minute hard. Friday I took a 35 minute run in the 85 degree heat, it was tough. Saturday Charlie and I did day 1, week 1. He said he wasn't very good about keeping up with the weeks during break, so he wanted to just start over and I was fine to make that compromise. Monday we did a track workout, 8 reps of 3 minutes soft, one minute hard. Tuesday we did day 2. Today I am doing a warmup, sprints for 15 seconds with 45 seconds of active rest, and then some plyos on a pier that juts out into the Pacific ocean. falling apart during the 400s (9 seconds of difference is way too much). we were also too tentative on the first set of 200s, which i'm not surprised about.

my arm's been type='text'>long time

...no post. anyways, my job is pretty demanding, and it's only training yet. im in the same boat as wats- no tracks, and i get out of work way after it gets dark. theres a tiny park that ought to be good for some 100m sprints, as well as some space for plyos. hopefully it's lit...

monday: decided to do stair workout in my apt in lieu of track workout. sprinted 22 flights, then 20 flights, then 18 flights (2 at a time) until i dry-heaved from a lack of ventilation.

today: no real time to do the full alternate workout that seigs blitzed out (only had an hour break for lunch). so i did squats (1x10x100, 2x10x120), RDLs (3x10x35), wrist curls (3x15x45), and some quick incline situps.

tonight i went to east river park to play some high level pickup. felt pretty good- only one turn (a lefty drop), 3 Ds (1 callahan). had some nice IO breaks as well as baby talk cuts. my team rolled, with the help of some scrub named alex masulis. lowlights included injuring my right hamstring on a deep cut, getting D'ed in the air cause i didnt go up hard, and finally walking 30 mins to the closest subway stop in the pouring rain.

but im really psyched to play disc this spring, cause we're gonna be fucking good. im also excited to work more on quickness and plyos.
<img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/17551693-113704227893791942?l=fullhousecell.blogspot.com' alt='' I dunno, it really hurt at Saturday's practice and after the chin ups yesterday, so I'll be taking a break from the lifts till I'm confident it's better. I'll still be doing stuff in the gym, legs and plyos and such, along with the track workout (did this morning) and the thompson stadiums, etc. I'll let y'all know.

To everyone who's away, I hope your respective locations are mad sweet. It's snowy here.

recent stuff

forget what i posted about last, but here's my most recent stuff:
day 3 week 5 on sunday after IM hockey, we won 9-3, but I took a puck off the shin and now its swollen like crazy, but hey a win's a win...
track workout week 2 today, besides from painful shins it went well, ran hard and manged to not be late for my 2

practice on saturday was a good time, worked on the stack and cutting, my legs felt good, but my throws were pretty rusty, especially my backhand, which was weird, but all in all with practice, hockey and lifting it was a fun and productive weekend

Done with Week 4

Did Day 3 of week 4 yesterday, it was awesome to do dips on a plyos box instead of on the seat of an uncooperative chair. Also did the track workout this morning for the first time, did all of the laps but couldn't do the 400s at anything close to a sprint pace. Hoping that I show some quick improvment on that over the next few weeks. Also seem to have hurt (but hopefully not injured) my left leg at some point, probably from not stretching well enough after, so i'm not lifting today. Team conditioning tomorrow, so I guess I'll be doing day 1 some time this weekend.
Feliz Ano Nuevo

So on Thursday I hit up my free week gym membership for a second time, got day 2 of week 4 done. It was probably the best workout I've gotten since coming home, I really felt good about it. I then went and played some 6 on 6 for a few hours with the old HS team. Today I played in a chill/swill hat tourney downtown for a few hours. Hope you're all looking forward to this next year. My astrologist says it'll be sweet.

my week

haven't posted in a while...
on christmas eve i went for a three mile run, on monday i did day 1 week 4, tuesday i did upper body and played a few hours of football, wednesday i was incredibly sore from football and took the day off, thursday i did day 2 week 4 and played a few hours of basketball, friday i did upper body again and went ice skating, today i'm going to do day 3 week 4 and play some more basketball
this week i also went to an Ansel Adams and a Surrealist art exhibit and played civ 4 until my eyes hurt, in ultimate related news Brown's ultimate team was mentioned in the Globe as the "best championship team that got overlooked [in 2005]"
am i the only one who feels a bit depressed when taking down the christmas tree?

More Updates

Nate, 12/28:
yesterday i played a game with seigs and a bunch of my high school buddies, pretty good quality though we were all kinda fucking around. today i went running and did trailwork on the farm. wish sam the best, he's flying from hawaii to the marshalls right now.

Kimia, 12/28:
been workin' out 3-5 days a week, went to CA for xmas and i actually had to have emergency surgery on 2 wisdom teeth 2 days before xmas!! Did 3x8 90lb sitting calf raises, 3x8 (70, 80, 90lb) leg extensions, and 100 crunches on a ball.

Afterwards, I went to wrestling practice at my old high school and tooled on some younger kids. I did manage to sprain my thumb though (I think) because now it's a bit larger than the other one and hurts to move it.

Forrest 12/20

anyway, already blitzed out about skiing on sunday, but it was great. 6-9" inches at a-basin, plus i borrowed my friend's brother's season pass so i skied free. the next morning, though, i was sore as shit. quad's weren't too happy with me, and apparently my knees didn't like all the mogul runs. soooo, i took monday off. today i did day 3 of week 3, doing everything there plus i paired the single leg jumps with three sets of biceps. i'll still work out a few more times this week, so im not counting that as my makeup

also ended up playing a hybrid version of boot for two hours this afternoon with my friend julie (plays for cu's kali womens team), her brother, some other decent high school seniors, CSU's best player (a sophomore), and few other mamabird b-teamers. there boot is a combo of our boot + hot box, so instead of clearing across a center line, you have to get it into the box before you can go for one of the two cones. stall's still to 6, but you have to release the disc when you knock down the cone (no reaching in and tapping it over), and you can't stall from anywhere on the field like we do. all things i learned the hard way, but i was a blast. even got myself a new raspberry on my right hip from a layout (selfcall) which was nice

that's about it. hope all's well, more later

a lot of stuff to report on since my last post, saturday night I played two or three hours of pretty high level basketball, got my jump shot back which was encouraging
On monday I did day 1 week 3 with 25 lbs for step ups, 30 lbs for split squats, 25 then 30 for rdls and 15 lbs for hanging leg raises. New York City was a great time. Saw all the sights and went to the important museums. MOMA has an incredible collection, just awesome. Saw some really weird people in the East Village, but there were some cool record stores too so I guess it evens out.

Now that I'm back home its time to start working out again. Yesterday I did day 3 with some extra calf and ab work at the end. 2o lbs for the sl jumps, 25 lbs for the box jumps, 0 lbs for the sl squats and 25 lbs for the sl rdl. I used 6 45 lb plates on the calf machine and did 50 flatfooted situps with a 5 kb medicine ball.

Today I did the summer upper body workout with various weights. I then did 50 more flatfooted situps with a 5 kb medicine ball. After all of that I ran 3 miles. Fun stuff.

Spent most of these past two days reading and playing Ocarina of Time (thats right). Hopefully we'll get to school the other cells at Mariokart or something over the winter...

Tomorrow its more of the same. I'll hit up the gym again and do day 1.

Watson 12/13

Did day 1 of week 3 today. I had to substitute box jumps for squat jumps because they didn't have a plyo box at the gym I was at. I also decided to take up single leg squats a different way. I think Mackey suggested going all the way down (so your ankle touches your butt) using less weight instead of going halfway down with more weight. It seemed to work pretty well. I also got a calf workout in, the one where you sit and have the weight on your thighs. I did 3x8 sets of 90lbs making sure to do the reps slowly and with focus.

In other news, while working out I heard a new rendition of 'call on me.' Imagine a cheesy, synthesizer elevator muzak version of it, because that was it.

Today I'm going into boston to get a new suit so I can look straight pimpin while in france and on fridays this coming spring. It was nice being in the empty gym, it went fast and I need to up my weights because I left feeling about the same as I went in, not with any type of satisfying soreness. After lifting we tried to get in basketball, I missed 4 free throws in horrendous fashion and was forced to sit out, so I left. I'm gonna assume Rem's team won, cause DJ Rus was on the other one, and if he plays half as bad as he raps, he probably is incapable of dribbling one handed.

Now, back to finals studying. Wats, Rem, Wheaties and I also made up part of the workout for Lamar who I guess was too busy working on the triangle offense to show up. We did three sets of calf raises on the machine and then 3 sets of 20 of those ab exercises with weight that start off as normal situps, but then switch to side to side.
I probably will go running or do something else athletic today. Gotta get those endorphins going...

Just for the record, you can start telling the rest of campus (everyone seems to have heard about it) that my intestine isn't actually ruptured. I did gain 5.5 pounds in the challenge though.

On the conditioning train

Good stuff today, did the day 3 workout with slammy and forrest...needless to say, my legs are gonna be sore tomorrow.

On the downside, there was no one to play squash/r-ball with afterwards so I just went home...does anyone in the cell play racketball? All A-team members were present, minus the dart (in london) and nate (busy working out by himself in his room). Nate's post will soon follow. Thumbs up to Jesse Victor for a strong b-team showing. The women did show, but participated in the womenses lifting.

For me personally, I did
3x4 25lb plyo step ups
3x10 25lb split squats
3x10 20lb rdls, the last with 25lb
3x5 chin ups
3x6 leg raises, the last with 10lb
3x5 tuck jumps

I also want to add calf raises and more jump roping to increase our jump height. />just got done playing a one-day tourney with a local university team...funny, because i dont think any of our players were actual students at that university. regardless, we rolled the chumps in our pool, then beat the other two pool leaders by 2 points each to capture first place in the division. i tallied 12 more goals/assists/Ds than turns for the entire day, including scoring the last winning goal after the cap was on (RING RING)...

physically i felt beat up afterwards, i guess that's what having only 8-9 people on your team will do to you. also cramped up quite a lot towards the end, but was able to play through it for the most part.

if any of you have any solutions for how to deal with leg cramps, i'd love to hear it, as it's becoming quite the repeating problem.
my crappy weekend

let's see...

I haven't been able to do much outside of practice just because engines has been taking up so much of my time. But at the very least i've been going to practice.

This weekend was not good for me. Way too many turns and all were errors of focus on my part. 2 drops and 4 throw aways (of my 8 turns total) that could have been completed had i not rushed and focused on the task at hand. I have to get it in my head that no turns are acceptable at any level. My goal for the spring is to have no more than one turn per day of a tournament and to get 4x as many d blocks.

Forrest's update

I'm just posting for him...

went to practice yesterday and thought i played really well. got footblocked on a terrible off-line attempt but got it back with a lay-out D while marking. also cut long after a swing and caught a score. all in all felt pretty good

stressful day so i took it out on the gym today. squash with fisher for an hour or so, then ran for 10 minutes on the treadmill, realized how much i hate treadmills, and decided to do a stairs workout instead. on the back staircase (by the athletic director's office) i ran the following x3 from the ground floor to the main floor then back down:

one step at a time
two steps
one step
right leg
left leg
hopping
left
right
one
two
one

exhausting but felt good
